Dating someone with young children
A few months ago I went on a coffee date with a very wonderful woman and ever since then we have been seeing each other.
In that post and in a follow-up one, I talked about my issue with her love of an occasional glass of wine and how it was really a “me problem”.
You are a vibrant, energetically alive adult who deserves to have a social life.
To help make the transition from mommy or daddy to date, lover, boyfriend or girlfriend, stop thinking of yourself as just a parent, and start thinking of yourself as an attractive, devastatingly sexy single.
Before you take that all-important step, consider this advice for dating with children: A lot of single parents ask, "When should I introduce my kids to the person I'm dating?
You may very well be enjoying a casual, lively social life with a person who is fun to be around, but with whom you simply don't imagine a future.
This is critical, because once you introduce children, you leave them vulnerable to becoming attached.
Don’t ever bring your kids on a date — even if he agrees to meet you at the park because your schedule is “so busy.” A better choice?
If you and your guy are in a relationship that lasts past the three-month mark and are making the commitment to be exclusive, begin to slowly introduce him to your kids.
